On August 10, demolition work began in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv city in a building at 9 Metrostroynikov Street. The work was made possible by donors from various partner countries after agreement with the country’s authorities and city administration under the supervision of UNDP. The ASTRON GROUP Association was involved as a subcontractor.

This project is aimed at emergency demolition and removal of rubble, clearing of rubble that formed during the war. This is the first step on the path to relief and reconstruction in Ukraine. The work includes primary demolition, secondary demolition, crushing of large fragments of non-fragment sizes, possible for loading and transportation by transport of another subcontractor.

The demolition process begins with the upper floors, which are dismantled using a Caterpillar 345 DEM 70 hydraulic excavator up to the 3rd floor, and only then does secondary demolition and loading of construction waste begin, which in turn is reduced to a size that is possible for transportation. Already during the loading and removal of construction waste, the lower floors of the building are demolished. According to the terms of the contract, the foundation of the building is not demolished, it is only cleaned of debris. The size of the building is 60 m by 12 meters and 9 floors high. It is approximately planned to remove 8 thousand tons of construction waste.
